The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley

Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley

Experience one of Golf Digest’s “America’s 50 Toughest Courses”

Come play the world’s lowest-elevation golf course at 214 feet below sea level!

The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley offers great California desert resort golf, a unique golf vacation and an ideal winter getaway. At 214 feet below sea level, this 18-hole, par 70 course is also the world’s lowest elevation golf course. Palm and tamarisk trees frame the fairways and majestic mountains are visible from all areas of the course.

During a 1997 redesign, noted course architect, Perry Dye added subtle mounding and re-contoured greens to the already fun layout. Water comes into play on nine holes and four sets of tees provide an enjoyable challenge for players of all skill levels. The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley has achieved designation as a “Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary” by the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary System (ACSS), the educational division of Audubon International. The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley was the 42nd course in California and the 630th in the world to receive the honor.

Gear up at the fully-stocked Pro Shop with the purchase of anything from a candy bar, to golf balls, tees, or apparel emblazoned with The Furnace Creek Golf Course at Death Valley’s logo. And no round would be complete without paying a visit to the 19th Hole with the best burger in Death Valley.

“Mother Nature lives in the extremes in Death Valley, a beautiful but harsh desert landscape lost on the California and Nevada border somewhere between Las Vegas (southeast 120 miles) and Los Angeles (southwest 275 miles). The wind was wicked at times, but in no way did it derail a fun and interesting round in one of America’s most remote golf destinations. The course was in fine shape, a sign of the ongoing rebirth of the former Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch Resort. Roughly $100 million has been spent to revive and rebrand this historic getaway, which dates to 1927.”
