Xanterra Harnesses Death Valley Sun by Constructing Tourism Industry's Largest Solar PV System
Xanterra Parks & Resorts has just completed one of the largest solar photovoltaic (PV) energy systems in the United States. Covering five acres of Southern California’s Death Valley National Park – a 3.3 million-acre park that is the sunniest place in the country – the one megawatt (MW) system will generate more than one-third of the total annual electricity needs of Xanterra’s operations in Death Valley, including the historic the Inn at Furnace Creek, the Ranch at Furnace Creek, Furnace Creek Golf Course, employee offices and housing. Furnace Creek Golf Course
The winter season is the perfect time to test your game on the World's lowest course, 214 feet below sea level. At $55.00, the peak golf season green fee is very reasonable and special "Sundowner" rates are also available daily. If you are coming to Furnace Creek primarily to play golf, the "Stay & Play" packages are designed with you in mind. Click here for details.
Furnace Creek Ranch Swimming Pool
The swimming pool at the Ranch at Furnace Creek has been a place of enjoyment for many of our guests. The pool is a spring-fed flow through pool with beautiful, clear blue water that enters the pool at a constant 84 degrees year round. At the west end of the pool area, a shade structure provides relief from the Death Valley sun. This pool is an extremely popular amenity and a truly first class facility.
Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes Visitor Area
A new visitor area recently opened at the Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes. The new facility includes parking for cars, buses and RVs, as well as ADA compliant walkways and bathroom facilities. As part of the project, Highway 190 was widened to provide for a turn lane and access lane. This new park feature is a major improvement for visitors who previously had to park on the highway shoulder when visiting the Sand Dunes.
California Highway 190
This scenic highway provides the most direct access to the park from the south, serving visitors from southern California and southern Nevada.
Check our Directions page for best routings to Highway 190.
